Following Curt Schilling's Thursday disclosure that fellow Boston legend Tim Wakefield is battling brain cancer

the wife of former Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek attacked the pitcher.

Schilling also revealed Stacy Wakefield's battle with pancreatic cancer.

Schilling, 56, was criticized by Catherine Varitek in a message that was published on her X account, tweeting, "F-k you Curt Schilling, that wasn't your place!"

Schilling and Wakefield, who threw for the Red Sox from 1995 to 2011, collaborated with Varitek, 51, to win two World Series championships in 2004 and 2007.

Following Schilling's remarks, which he first made on his "Curt Schilling Baseball Show" on Wednesday, the Red Sox confirmed that the Wakefields' "information has been shared publicly without their permission."

The statement continued, "We are aware of the allegations and concerns regarding the health of Tim and Stacy Wakefield.

Unfortunately, their consent was not obtained before this information was made public. As they undergo therapy and fight this cancer, their health is a very personal topic that they meant to remain private.

Tim and Stacy politely want privacy at this time and are grateful for all the love and support that have always been shown to them.
