Mets’ Brandon Nimmo exits with shoulder injury, season likely over

Gray Frame Corner

Starling Marte (groin) was declared out for the season by the Mets on Wednesday.

Jeff McNeil's (elbow) season was officially ended on Thursday afternoon.

The year of Brandon Nimmo may have ended prematurely in the very early hours of Friday morning.

The right shoulder's AC joint was bothering the Mets center fielder, who left Thursday's halted game before the fifth inning.

Manager Buck Showalter stated that the initial X-rays "looked good," but Nimmo will get an MRI on Friday afternoon.

He may have played his last game of the season, which is both plausible and possibly likely.

After the Mets and Marlins were unable to complete a game at Citi Field that Miami led, 2-1, in the top of the ninth inning, Showalter stated

"He may wake up and feel fine." Although I don't anticipate it, I won't completely rule it out.

Nimmo had dove and hit the grass hard trying to catch a Jorge Soler single in the fourth inning.
