Postponed Mets game complicates David Stearns’ introduction

Gray Frame Corner

One of the unintended consequences of the Mets and Marlins' game being called with one out in the top of the ninth inning on Thursday night

the introduction press conference for new Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns may be postponed.

The Mets intended for Steve Cohen to formally introduce Stearns at a press conference at Citi Field on Monday at noon.

MLB requests that teams refrain from making significant announcements during the postseason so as to not detract from the highlight matches.

The Mets had been planning to announce Stearns as their new director of baseball operations on Monday since weeks ago, as the postseason starts on Tuesday.

However, if the outcome of the game that began Thursday night has playoff implications, then the Marlins and Mets will regather to complete the contest at 1:10 pm on Monday.

The Mets had not yet officially gathered Friday morning to decide how to audible with a Stearns introductory press conference if they actually have to compete on the field.
