The Washington Post article that Dave Portnoy said was a "hit piece" about him and the One Bite Pizza festival he organized on Saturday contained one thing that he found amusing.
The Washington Post cited a blog post by the creator of Barstool Sports in the piece, which focuses on the criticism of Portnoy's event in Brooklyn and calls former Jets quarterback Christian Hackenberg "f-king gorgeous."
Portnoy responded, "This is objectively funny," to an X user who claimed that was "the best part" of The Washington Post article. Yes, Hackenberg was a total jerk.
He was a starter at Penn State from 2013-15 before the Jets selected him in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
Hackenberg never played a regular-season game in two seasons with New York and saw no action with the Raiders, Eagles and Bengals.
He also struggled as the starting quarterback for the Memphis Express franchise of the Alliance of American Football, which folded in 2019.
Portnoy has been at war with The Washington Post and documenting the drama on social media since he was tipped off by one of the sponsors of his pizza festival that claimed the outlet was planning to run a piece about the event.
The Barstool boss took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a video of him on the phone with one of the article’s reporters, Emily Heil, who admitted to sending negative emails about Portnoy to the sponsors of the “One Bite” pizza festival in order to get sponsors to “engage” with her for the story.
